What is a Spyware Keylogger?
There are a huge number of threats out there whenever you log on to the Internet and start doing anything with your personal information. You can have your credit card information stolen, your email address hacked, your bank account broken into. These are all real risks and one of the most common ways that people are attacked in such ways is with Spyware Keyloggers. These pieces of malware, downloaded onto your computer when you least expect it, are loaded with small processes and virus like bits of software that slowly and carefully dig into your computer and start taking your most personal information.
The way a keylogger actually works is rather simple and yet terrifying in many ways. It will start tracking everything you do, starting with what you type into every form on your computer. It might record your email you send to a loved one which is only a minor invasion of privacy, but then twenty minutes later it might record you typing in your user name and password to your bank account.
More often than not, these software programs are automated and the information that the hackers who write them are looking for is email addresses. These are easy to pull out of the keylogs and are highly valuable for anyone that makes a living by sending obnoxious emails about your credit card debt or signing up for a cruise. It’s no wonder that so many people try to find out ways they can get rid of keyloggers.
The spyware keyloggers you’re dealing with will come from just about anywhere, not just websites where you are expecting it. You might find them downloaded onto your computer from a forum or chat room that has been hacked or from a phishing link that you get in your email telling you to click on something that is really a fake site and only attempts to steal your personal information.
You might also find that some websites are blacklisted for this kind of activity. Web browsers almost all come with installed tools these days that allow you to see what sites are considered blacklisted. They will pop up with a warning if you are about to enter such a site and keep you from accidentally installing such a security risk. This is a good reason why it is important to always keep your software updated to the newest version.
Another very important thing you can do to protect against keyloggers is to download and install an anti-spyware program that will go through and scan your computer regularly, deleting and removing anything that is going to get in and mess with your hard drive, steal your personal information or just plain slow everything down.
Keyloggers are a major security risk and can cause you untold pain and suffering if your information gets stolen. So, it is important that you always keep an eye out for what sites you are visiting, update your software regularly, and install something that will keep the problem spyware from getting onto your computer at all.
